API 7K certified oil drilling hose

API 7K certified 1500-7500PSI 2-6 inch drilling shock-absorbing mud pumping hose is the core conveying equipment in the oil drilling industry, designed for extreme working conditions. This type of high-pressure hose is mainly used in the mud circulation system of land and offshore drilling platforms, and undertakes the high-pressure transportation of mud during drilling. In complex operations such as directional drilling and horizontal drilling, it can effectively connect the mud pump and the riser system to ensure stable circulation of drilling fluid. In addition, this type of hose is also suitable for high-pressure fluid transportation in fracturing operations, as well as various media transmission in completion and well repair operations. The operating temperature range usually covers harsh environmental conditions from -40°C to +121°C.

Hose structure features

API 7K standard certified oil drilling hose adopts a multi-layer composite structure design to ensure reliability in high-pressure and high-wear environments. Typical structures include:

1. Liner: Oil-resistant and corrosion-resistant synthetic rubber (such as NBR or FKM), specially formulated to resist abrasive particles and chemical additives in drilling mud

2. Reinforcement layer: Multi-layer high-tensile steel wire braid or winding structure (usually 4-6 layers), providing axial and radial strength, withstanding 7500PSI working pressure

3. Anti-extrusion layer: Specially designed metal or synthetic fiber mesh to prevent the hose from deforming or collapsing under high pressure

4. Outer protective layer: Wear-resistant, UV-resistant, and weather-resistant synthetic rubber, usually with grooves or corrugations on the surface for enhanced protection

5. End connection: Flange or threaded joint that meets API standards, with reinforced design to ensure connection reliability

Precautions for use

To ensure the safe operation and extend the service life of API 7K certified hoses, special attention should be paid to the following matters during operation:

1. Pressure management: It is strictly forbidden to exceed the rated working pressure (including pressure peak). Before use, the matching of the system maximum working pressure and the hose rating should be checked

2. Bending radius: Maintain the minimum bending radius (usually 5-7 times the hose diameter) during installation to avoid sharp bends that may damage the reinforcement layer

3. Vibration control: In high-frequency vibration areas such as mud pump outlets, special pipe clamps and shock absorbers should be used to fix them to reduce fatigue damage

4. Medium compatibility: Confirm the chemical compatibility of the conveying medium with the hose lining material, especially new drilling fluids containing special additives

5. Regular inspection: Establish a strict inspection system, focusing on checking the joint sealing, outer rubber layer wear and overall deformation

6. Storage conditions: Spare hoses should be stored in a cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight and ozone environment, and rotated regularly to prevent deformation

The design life of this type of high-pressure hose is usually 2-5 years, but the actual service life depends greatly on operating conditions and maintenance quality. When signs such as cracking of the outer rubber layer, exposed steel wire or loose joints are found, they should be immediately decommissioned and replaced to prevent sudden failures from causing safety accidents.
