High-temperature and acid/alkali resistant chemical hoses | Chemical transfer fluid solutions
In industries such as chemical processing, electroplating, battery manufacturing, and metalworking, the stable and safe transfer of alkaline coolant is critical for ensuring process continuity and equipment reliability. To meet the demanding requirements of conveying overheated alkaline coolant at operating temperatures up to 150°C, this document introduces a chemical-resistant hose with a PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) liner as its core, along with technical specifications for three commonly used sizes: DN20, DN25, and DN50.
1. Product Structure and Material Design
This hose employs a multi-layer composite structure, with each layer optimized for specific functions to ensure exceptional durability in highly corrosive and high-temperature environments.
-
Inner Layer: PTFE and EPDM Synthetic Rubber
- Core Function: Provides superior chemical inertness and corrosion resistance. PTFE (Teflon) material offers excellent resistance to nearly all chemicals (including strong acids, alkalis, and organic solvents), features a smooth surface with an extremely low friction coefficient, effectively preventing scaling and ensuring media purity.
- Composite Design: A layer of high-temperature resistant EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) rubber is compounded outside the PTFE liner, further enhancing long-term stability and flexibility in high-temperature alkaline environments and preventing micro-cracks in the PTFE layer during dynamic bending.
-
Reinforcement Layer: High-Flexibility Steel Wire Reinforcement
- Structure Options: Two reinforcement schemes are available to suit different pressure requirements.
- 2-Braid Ultra-High Strength, High-Flexibility Steel Wire: Suitable for medium-pressure, high-flexibility applications with excellent pulse performance.
- 4-Spiral Ultra-High Strength, High-Flexibility Steel Wire: Suitable for higher working pressures and applications requiring suction resistance, offering greater pressure-bearing capacity and better dimensional stability.
- Core Advantage: The high-flexibility steel wire provides extremely high burst pressure while ensuring excellent bendability of the hose, facilitating flexible routing between equipment.
- Structure Options: Two reinforcement schemes are available to suit different pressure requirements.
-
Outer Cover: Weather & Abrasion-Resistant Synthetic Rubber (UPE Cover Optional)
- Base Layer: Made from ozone-resistant, UV-resistant, and abrasion-resistant synthetic rubber. Available in black, red, yellow, or blue for easy on-site pipeline identification and management.
- Enhanced Option (UPE Abrasion-Resistant Cover): For applications with severe external mechanical wear or scraping risks (e.g., passing through equipment, dragging on the ground), an additional layer of Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UPE) can be applied over the rubber cover, significantly extending the service life of the hose's outer protection.
2. Key Performance Parameters
- Suitable Media: Specifically designed for overheated alkaline coolants. Also offers broad compatibility with most acids, alkalis, salt solutions, organic solvents, and various chemicals.
- Temperature Range: -55°C to +220°C (-67°F to 428°F). Fully covers the 150°C operating requirement with ample safety margin, while also providing excellent low-temperature flexibility.
- Sizes and Length: Standard supply sizes include DN20 (approx. 3/4"), DN25 (approx. 1"), and DN50 (approx. 2"). The standard single length is 6 meters, with custom cutting available based on customer requirements.
- Pressure Rating: Depending on the reinforcement structure (2-braid or 4-spiral) and diameter, the working pressure typically ranges from 1.0 MPa to 4.0 MPa or higher. Specific values require confirmation based on the selected model.
3. Application Scenarios and Selection Guidelines
This hose is an ideal choice for the following applications:
- Electroplating and Surface Treatment Lines: Transfer of high-temperature alkaline cleaning solutions and etchants.
- Chemical Process Cooling Systems: Alkaline coolant circulation pipelines connecting reactors and condensers.
- New Energy Battery Production: Transfer of alkaline slurries or cooling media in processes like electrode material preparation.
- Steel and Metal Processing: Transfer of alkaline hydraulic fluids or coolants for equipment like continuous casters and rolling mills.
Selection Guidelines:
- Pressure Requirements: For standard circulation cooling systems, the 2-braid structure is sufficient. For applications with pulsation or higher system pressure, the 4-spiral structure is recommended.
- External Environment: If the installation space is confined, requires frequent movement, or contacts abrasive surfaces, selecting the UPE abrasion-resistant cover is strongly advised.
- Identification Management: Utilize different colored outer covers for color-coding pipelines carrying different media or belonging to different systems, enhancing safety and maintenance efficiency.
In summary, this chemical-resistant hose, featuring a PTFE liner, high-flexibility steel wire reinforcement, and a wide temperature range (-55°C to 220°C), provides a highly reliable solution for transferring 150°C overheated alkaline coolant. Its standardized DN20, DN25, and DN50 sizes and 6-meter standard length facilitate procurement and installation. Users can flexibly choose the reinforcement structure and whether to add the UPE abrasion-resistant outer cover based on actual pressure requirements and the external environment to achieve optimal cost-effectiveness and service life.
